Hands-on Maths Year 5
Hands-on Maths for Year 5 offers a 10 minute activity per day based upon the use of readily available classroom objects or 'manipulatives’ such as counters, shells, cars, dice, bricks and more. The series supports a concrete-pictorial-abstract approach to help pupils’ develop mastery of key mathematical concepts and National Curriculum objectives.

Divided into 6 weeks per mathematical topic area (6 areas: counting, representing numbers, place value/fractions, addition and subtraction/fractions, multiplication and division/fractions, and Fractions/decimals and percentages) each page provides 5 short daily activities for the week.

Week 1: Multiply proper fractions by whole numbers, supported by materials
Week 2: Multiply proper fractions by whole numbers, supported by diagrams
Week 3: Multiply mixed numbers by whole numbers, supported by materials
Week 4: Multiply mixed numbers by whole numbers, supported by diagrams
Week 5: Solve problems which require know decimals and percentage equivalents and those fractions with a denominator of a multiple of 10
Week 6: Solve problems which require know decimals and percentage equivalents and those fractions with a denominator of a multiple of 25
